How Much Cord Do I Need?
As an approximate guide, allow around:
2.5 × the drop of the blind for each cord being replaced
For example, if your blind has a 150cm drop, allow approximately:
150cm × 2.5 = 375cm (3.75 metres) per cord
Therefore, if replacing three lift cords on a 150cm drop blind, you would need approximately 11.25 metres in total.
This is a guide only. Cord requirements can vary depending on the design, size and cord routing of the individual blind.
Where possible, measure the existing cords before removal and allow a little extra cord for threading, tying and final adjustment.
Re-Cording a Wooden Venetian Blind
If one lift cord has worn or broken, we recommend replacing all of the lift cords at the same time.
The remaining original cords are likely to have experienced similar levels of wear. Mixing old and new cords can also result in uneven operation.
Replacing the cords together helps ensure the blind raises evenly and operates correctly.
