Vertical Blind Fabric
Vertical Blind Fabric for DIY Replacement
Replacing the fabric on an existing vertical blind can be a practical alternative to replacing the complete blind, particularly when the headrail and operating system are still working correctly.
Blind Parts Hub supplies 89mm vertical blind fabric in full 100 metre rolls, suitable for customers making their own replacement vertical blind louvres or refurbishing several existing blinds. Our range includes daylight, blackout, flame-retardant, plain PVC and patterned PVC vertical blind fabrics, with a wide choice of colours and finishes.
The fabric is supplied as material only and is not made into finished vertical blind slats.
Why Is Vertical Blind Fabric Supplied in 100 Metre Rolls?
Although 100 metres may initially sound like a large quantity, vertical blinds can use a surprising amount of fabric. Each individual louvre normally runs almost the full height of the blind.
For example, a typical 2 metre wide blind may use approximately 25 × 89mm louvres. If each louvre is approximately 2 metres long, the blind could require around 50 metres of fabric.
As a general illustration:
Approx. blind width | Approx. number of 89mm louvres | Fabric for a 2m louvre length |
1 metre | 13 | 26 metres |
1.5 metres | 19 | 38 metres |
2 metres | 25 | 50 metres |
2.5 metres | 32 | 64 metres |
3 metres | 38 | 76 metres |
4 metres | 50 | 100 metres |
These figures are guidance only. Vertical blind tracks can use different carrier spacing and configurations, so the most reliable method is to count the existing louvres and measure their finished length before ordering.
Choosing the Right Vertical Blind Fabric
Different fabrics provide different levels of privacy, light control and performance.
Daylight fabric provides privacy while allowing natural light into the room and is a good general-purpose choice for living areas, offices and other everyday applications.
Blackout fabric provides greater light control and is useful where reducing light through the fabric is important. As with any vertical blind, some light can still enter through gaps between the louvres and around the blind.
Flame-retardant fabric is available for applications where an appropriate FR specification is required. Check the individual product description for the applicable fire-performance standard.
PVC vertical blind fabric provides a wipe-clean surface and is particularly useful where easy cleaning or moisture resistance is desirable. Plain and patterned options are available.
Making Your Own Replacement Vertical Blind Louvres
Before ordering, remove and examine one of your existing louvres. This gives you the best reference for the width, finished length, top fixing and bottom-weight arrangement used by your blind.
In many cases, parts of the existing blind can be reused. Blind Parts Hub also supplies replacement vertical blind hangers, bottom weights, bottom chain, tilt chain and other vertical blind repair parts.
Our 100 metre rolls are supplied specifically as fabric only. They are intended for DIY customers and blind makers who are comfortable cutting and finishing their own material rather than purchasing ready-made replacement louvres.
Samples & Choosing Your Colour
Colours displayed on a screen can vary according to the device and display settings. Where available, we recommend viewing a physical fabric sample before ordering a complete 100 metre roll, particularly where an exact colour match is important.
The photographs throughout our fabric range are intended to help show the appearance, texture and light performance of the actual materials rather than relying solely on computer-generated colour representations.
